Awesome spring eats

Foodies will surely agree spring is by far the best season of the year. The vegetables seem more crisp and green, the herb gardens more bountiful and there are countless ways to entertain outdoors in the mild, warm sunshine. Read on for a run-down of our favourite ways to eat our way through spring.



Fire up that grill because barbecue season has kicked off! From sticky ribs and seasoned steaks to corn on the cob, hotdogs, marinated chicken and fresh fish, it all tastes better barbecued. But it’s more than the primitive act of sizzling fresh meat over an open flame that makes barbecuing the number one reason we’re excited for spring’s return. We also love that grilling brings together friends and family, allows us to dine alfresco and indulge in other spring treats like handfuls of fresh herbs and bowls of crisp garden salad.



Now’s the perfect time to pack a feast and head for one of Perth’s glorious outdoor spaces, be that the beach, river or leafy parkland. Picnics bring together good friends over yummy food, and are a great way of entertaining without all the mess. Choose treats that are best enjoyed warm or at room temperature, ensure they’re easy to hold by hand, and lay it all out at once allowing everyone to graze at their leisure. Farmers’ markets

Is there anything more soul pleasing than a sunny spring Sunday morning? Finally, we can hit up the alfresco section of our favourite café for long, lazy bunches. Grab the paper, order your favourite coffee and settle in for a morning filled with many of the season’s best produce including asparagus, free-range eggs, berries, baby greens and fresh herbs.


Spring vegetables
