October's Cheese of the Month

05 Oct 2016

Chevre (goats cheese) is at its best during spring which is why this month, we’re coveting our two favourite goats’ curds made by South Australian cheese producer, Woodside Cheese Wrights.

Over 20 years have passed since Woodside Cheese wrights began producing their artisan range of cheeses. Made from cow and goat’s milk sourced from local dairies, the varieties are crafted by hand and are made in small batches meaning each cheese is produced when the milk is perfect for each style.

If you love chevre, do yourself a favour and check out our two Woodside cheeses of the month.

Swag (ashed chevre)

This award-winning cheese was developed to showcase just how fresh chevre can taste. Its ashy coating reduces the cheese’s surface acidity and creates a complex, creamy mouthfeel.

Sharp and intriguing, this cheese is ideal for crowd-pleasing cheese platters and pairs perfectly with seasonal fruit and fresh chenin blanc. RRP $11.95.

Lemon Myrtle Chevre

Zesty, zingy and so, so yummy, we think this cheese is simply divine.

The goat’s milk is set using a traditional long-set method creating a cheese that is delicate, gentle and made with only minimal added salt.

Once made, the cheese is rolled in crushed lemon myrtle, giving it its characteristic citrus zing. It then rests for two to three hours before being packaged.

A summer cheese board must-have, it pairs fabulously with fresh apples and pears. RRP $12.50.
