Our top Christmas gifts for foodies

14 Dec 2020

Got a foodie to spoil this festive season? You’re sure to make their Christmas Day with this selection of mouth-watering gourmet gifts.

1. Simon Johnson panettone ($55 large)

Beautifully presented in a gorgeous gift box, this classic melt-in-your-mouth panettone is rich and buttery, and stuffed with candied fruits, spices and raisins.

2. Bahen & Co. coated chocolates ($11.95 each)

Made by Margaret River-based Bahen & Co. (one of our favourite chocolate producers) these boxes of dark choc-coated treats are ideal for anyone who loves fine, ethically-produced chocolates. Choose from Confit Orange Peel, Organic Salted Liquorice, Persian Wild Fig, and Vanilla and Almond Nougat. Better still, package up all four for the ultimate choc-lover’s gift.

3. Newcastle Pudding Lady traditional Christmas pudding 350g ($22 each)

The Pudding Lady’s popular Christmas range is completely sold out online, but hurry into The Black Truffle and you can still get your mitts on one of the company’s hand-wrapped traditional Christmas puddings. These flavour bombs are bursting with rich, vine ripened fruits, creamy butter, sweet oranges and distilled Australian spirits.

4. Whistlers giant chocolate stars (from $9.45)

Whistlers is another outstanding Western Australian producer and has been creating creamy, rich chocolates for over 40 years. The company’s Christmas range is always a customer favourite and this year, we’re coveting the giant milk and dark chocolate festive stars. Choose either the milk chocolate freckle star, or the dark chocolate star with raspberry, blackberry and silver leaf.

5. The Dingo Sauce Co. range (from $14.95)

We love spice, which is why the Dingo Sauce Co. range of hot sauces is on our Christmas list. Handmade in North Fremantle by local chef, Leigh Nash, this artisan range of chilli sauces includes Nash’s own super hot sriracha, Mr Fong’s Plumb Bomb – a tangy blend of plum, chilli, tamarind, hoisin and palm sugar; and a sticky sweet chilli sauce among others.

6. Individual Christmas cake ($15) and panforte ($10)

Looking for a sweet, simple gift to thank your Christmas Day lunch host? Our house-made Christmas cake and panforte are ideal. Individually wrapped, our Christmas cake is a moist, buttery mix of dried fruits, brandy, almonds, cherries, spices and brown sugar. Made with honey, nuts and candied fruit, our traditional Italian panforte is the perfect partner for your Christmas morning cuppa.

7. Veniani Brutti e Buoni ($12.95 each)

Brutti e Buoni are slightly chewy, biscotti-like Italian biscuits made from almonds using an ancient recipe. Wrapped and packed by hand, these delicate morsels are great with ice cream, or served alongside a good cup of coffee or steaming hot chocolate.

8. Christmas cards

Christmas gift – tick. Christmas card to match – tick. Our merry and bright selection of Christmas cards make your trip to ‘The Truffle’ a one-stop shop.
