11 Nov 2021

Time to show our dedicated and patient educators just how much we've appreciated their efforts this year, and what better way to do so than with a unique foodie gift?

If you’re looking for a unique, thoughtful present to show your appreciation, you’re sure to find it amongst our list of top teacher gifts for 2021. We've even offer cards and a hamper-wrapping service making The Black Truffle a one-stop-shop.

FOR THE TEACHER WITH A SWEET TOOTH

Bahen & Co. assorted gourmet choc bars, $9.95

Does it even matter what the chocolate tastes like when the packaging is this pretty? We all know it’s what’s on the inside that counts and thankfully, the Bahen & Co. range of chocolates taste as good as they look.  Made locally in the Margaret River region, Bahen & Co goodies are produced using a traditional and ethical bean to bar chocolate making processes. Flavours stocked in-store include almond and sea salt, orange and hazelnut, cherry and coconut, raspberry and rose and columbian coffee, amongst others.

FOR THE TEACHER WITH A GREEN THUMB

Green Assembly small potted plant $35

Who doesn’t love a gorgeous, leafy indoor plant? Brighten your teacher’s interior by gifting a healthy, easy-to-care-for plant from Green Assembly. Our range comes pre-potted in a sophisticated, modern planter. Better still, this gift will live on as a lovely (hopefully!) reminder of the relationship your child built with their educator.

FOR SOMETHING SWEET AND SIMPLE

The Little Bakery melting moments, $14.95

For something sweet, simple and not too ostentatious, these packets of melting moments are perfect. A true comfort food, this old-school favourite is made by local company, The Little Bakery and are buttery, melt-in-your mouth cookies filled with velvety vanilla buttercream. The Little Bakery freshly bake all their cakes and cookies to order from their premises in Nedlands and only bake using premium, preservative-free ingredients in small batches, just like you would at home.

SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE MASCULINE

Wagyu Biltong Co. biltong 65g 11.95; Olsson’s Rare Dry Gin Salt 250g $12.00

What’s more blokey than biltong? The Wagyu Biltong Co.’s range of perfectly cured biltong is made right here in WA using Australian Wagyu beef cut from the silverside part of the animal (to ensure lovely long cuts of meat), the biltong is cured using malt vinegar and fresh herbs and spices then carefully dried.

Pair it with Olsson’s incredible Rare Dry Gin Salt. A collaboration between Olsson’s and Four Pillar Gin, the product is made by mixing marine mineral grey salt (which tastes just like the sea) with botanicals used in Four Pillars’ Spent Rare Dry Gin. The result is a fragrant, minerally seasoning that’s perfect sprinkled over roast chicken, pork loin, and roasted spuds. It’s also great for curing salmon and makes a killer salted caramel.

FOR THOSE WHO LOVE TO ENTERTAIN

The Pickled Wife Dukkah $13.50; hot jam $14.50; Great Southern Groves EVOO $12.95

Buying for a teacher who prefers their cheese over chocolates? Or maybe your teacher loves to entertain? If this is the case, our dukkah, Hot Jam and gourmet extra virgin olive oil pack is sure to be a winner. Made in Manjimup, The Pickled Wife Dukkah is a lightly roasted blend of spices while the company’s Hot Jam is an Asian-Inspired savoury relish packed full of garlic, ginger, chilli and coriander. Together with Great Southern Groves EVOO, they’re ideal additions to any grazing board. These savoury packs come pre-wrapped on a cute wooden serving board (while stocks last).

FOR THE TEACHER WHO IS HARD TO BUY FOR

Gift Voucher: any value

Unsure what to buy your kids’ teachers? A gift voucher may seem like a cop-out to some, but is actually a great solution – they suit any budget, are easy for teachers to transport home (on a day when they’re arms are overflowing with chocolates and flowers) and allow the recipient to select their favourite products, so they’re guaranteed to love their gift. Add your gift voucher to a thoughtfully worded greeting card that communicates just how appreciated they are. You can’t loose!
