When those wintry lunchtime hunger pangs hit, a simple sanger often doesn’t cut it. Luckily, we’ve got Fremantle’s must substantial selection of steaming hot lunches to heat you up.
When it’s damp, dreary and bitterly cold outside there’s nothing like a bowl of piping hot, creamy chicken tortellini to brighten up your day. Or a beef and mushroom ragu served with mash potato. Or a flaky, crisp apple, pork and fennel sausage roll. Hmmmmmm!
During the winter months and into the middle of September, The Black Truffle offers a selection of hot, home-cooked lunches. Available from Monday to Friday, the daily selection is ever changing but will often include a tray of roast vegetables, a hot pot or casserole, pasta and rice.
“The creamy pastas always sell out first – people love them! Free-range chicken tortellini with creamy basil pesto sauce is always a favourite and is definitely a best seller,” says Joanne Stevenson, owner of The Black Truffle.
If you miss out on the creamy tortellini, there’s always the equally tasty chicken tortellini with sundried tomato-based red pesto and blue cheese.
“This is truly delicious,” explains Joanne. “it’s made with only the best quality free-range chicken and mild blue cheese, so it’s not overpowering. This is already proving to be a real hit with customers.”
Also new to the lunchtime line-up of hot food is pumpkin gnocchi with roasted pumpkin, spinach and cream sauce, and beef cheeks with a mushroom ragu served over creamy mashed potato.
Then there are traditional Black Truffle favourites such as Moroccan free-range chicken with chickpeas and rice, beef and winter vegetable hot pot, and chicken and thyme sausage rolls, or pork, apple and fennel sausage rolls, which according to Joanne always fly out the door.
And if you just can’t go past a midday sanger, a heartier winter option is the roast porchetta (pork seasoned with herbs and spices) served hot in a fresh bread roll.
Beyond the daily selection of hot lunches, The Black Truffle services a wide range of ready-made grab-and-go meals. Healthy, hearty and wholesome, these home-cooked dishes are available year round and are perfect for busy customers on the go.
The selection varies from day to day but can include:
